Ranking April 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

9. The Zookeeper's Wife

The Zookeeper S Wife Jessica Chastain
Focus Features

RottenTomatoes Score: 58% (6.1/10)

Box Office: Despite being impressively budgeted at a mere $20 million, the Jessica Chastain-starring drama has only recouped roughly 75% of its budget to date. The cute animals could make it a decent seller on VOD, though.

Verdict: Jessica Chastain gives it her all in this intermittently compelling World War II drama, which while far too long and failing to make the most of its setting, is ably shot through thanks to the inherently fascinating nature of the tale.

Daniel Brühl is also terrifically slimy as Hitler's zoologist Dr. Lutz Heck, and steals the film away pretty much any time he's on-screen. Not a great film about the Holocaust, but not bad either.
