Ranking April 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

7. The Sense Of An Ending

The Sense Of An Ending Charlotte Rampling Jim Broadbent

RottenTomatoes Score: 73% (6.3/10)

Box Office: Budgetary information isn't available, but the adaptation of Julian Barnes' acclaimed 2011 novel has made just $1.2 million to date.

Verdict: File this one under "films you wanted to like a lot more than you did", because while Jim Broadbent gives an astonishingly good central performance, director Ritesh Batra only captures some of the admittedly challenging nuance of the source material.

It's unquestionably awash in art-house cliches to the point of near-comedy, but ultimately it does hit the right emotional notes for the most part, and Broadbent's fellow cast-mates (especially Charlotte Rampling) provide strong support.
