Box Office: Straight-to-Netflix.

Verdict: You may not remember the name Rachel Dolezal, but you probably do recall when a white woman obstinately claimed she was black back in 2015, sparking a nation-wide debate in the U.S. about the nature of race and whether or not it's merely a "construct."

This probing doc does a fantastic job exploring both sides of the argument, and certainly isn't a puff piece keen to merely celebrate Dolezal and her agenda. It's easy to come away from the film seeing her as deluded if not legitimately mentally ill, even if she does ultimately elucidate her reasons for identifying as black with surprising clarity.

As a fascinating exploration of race and the uproar that followed Dolezal's declaration, The Rachel Divide can't help but intrigue, fundamentally imperfect though it is.
