Ranking August 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

13. Sinister 2

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 13% (3.9/10) Box Office: Made for a low $10 million, Sinister 2 just barely clawed back its budget in its first weekend with $10.6 million, though this is far short of the original movie's $18 million opening, so it'll be a mild success overall, but nothing close to the original's $77.7 million take (on a $3 million budget, no less). The Verdict: Though James Ransone's return as ex-Deputy So-and-So is very much welcome, Sinister 2 just doesn't try hard enough to move the series' mythology on in a meaningful or interesting way. Instead, the film is peppered full of obnoxiously dull, predictable jump scares and a child custody subplot that could've been cut completely without harming the movie. On the other hand, the acting is rock solid throughout and the ending is certainly unexpected, but it's just not enough to suggest that these stories need to keep being told. Unless Sinister 2 completely falls off a cliff box office-wise, though, expect a third film to be announced soon. Whether it'll end up cinemas, though, is another case altogether...
