Ranking August 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

10. The Runner

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 32% (5/10) Box Office: Figures aren't available for The Runner's box office due to its limited release and larger VOD rollout, but with its focus more on political drama than action, it almost certainly didn't make its (admittedly low) budget back. The Verdict: A drama about the 2010 BP oil spill is certainly worthy subject matter, and Cage delivers a solid performance as the politician embroiled in a love affair scandal, but the compelling political narrative is too often suffocated under limp, generic soap opera drama that's nowhere near as interesting. There's decent acting all-around and the film looks pretty great for something so evidently done on the cheap, but with one of Cage's more intriguing roles in quite some time, the script really should've pushed harder.
