Ranking August 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

18. Mechanic: Resurrection

Suicide Squad Nine Lives Kubo And The Two Strings
Summit Entertainment

RottenTomatoes Score: 26% (4/10)

Box Office: Budgeted at a fairly modest $40 million, the Jason Statham-led actioner is nevertheless likely to struggle to scrape its budget back worldwide, thanks to a terrible marketing campaign and facing sturdy competition in its opening weekend. It'll probably fare much better on home video platforms, though.

Verdict: Jason Statham is still at his a**-kicking best, but Mechanic: Resurrection is a rote sequel that only so many people ever really wanted to see.

Jessica Alba is horribly paired with The Stath as an unconvincing romantic couple, Tommy Lee Jones is barely in it, the CGI is hilariously awful and the action is only passable.

Given how consistent Statham's actioners usually are, this one lands right near the bottom of the pile.
