Box Office: Steven Soderbergh's $29 million heist caper opened in line with expectations, but has yet to gross even half of its price tag, so it's sadly a bust.

Verdict: Bad box office be-damned, Soderbergh's latest is another riveting winner for the auteur, an hilarious, superbly-acted and even unexpectedly affecting romp that sees the returning director working at the top of his game.

The ensemble cast is fantastic from top to bottom, but it's Daniel Craig who wrestles the movie away any time he's on screen, giving easily his best performance in many years as explosives expert Joe Bang.

Though the heist itself does give way to contrivance every now and then, it's such a riotous hoot that this is easily forgiven, especially as Soderbergh's direction is so assured throughout.
