Ranking August 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

22. Slender Man

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 7% (3.3/10 average score)

Box Office: With re-shoots reportedly bloating the film's budget from $10 million to $28 million (somehow!?), the horror dud has only barely made its hefty price tag back. Home video will help it out a lot, but this is far from the breakout hit Sony was hoping for. A "D-" CinemaScore sure didn't help.

Verdict: To the surprise of absolutely nobody, this controversial PG-13 horror flick is an utter bore, even lacking enough intentional comedy to make it worthwhile as an ironic sit.

Despite a few decent stylistic flourishes and mildly creepy moments, Slender Man craters thanks to a shockingly flat script and absurdly disjointed editing, making it clear the movie was hacked to pieces in post-production. Just...no.
