Ranking August 2018's Movies From Worst To Best
2. BlacKkKlansman
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 95% (8.2/10)
Box Office: Spike Lee's fierce race dramedy was made for an impressively low $15 million, and gave the director his best opening weekend since Inside Man over a decade ago.
At the time of press it's imminently going to have tripled its budget. A sterling result for a relatively niche - yet undeniably important - work of cinema.
Verdict: Spike Lee's best film since 2002's 25th Hour, BlacKkKlansman is at once a stranger-than-fiction crime comedy and a devastating-yet-vital attack on the current state of America.
John David Washington and Adam Driver give spectacular performances - as does the entire ensemble, really - in a film that's at once ludicrously entertaining and also enormously sobering.
Boasting what'll surely be one of the year's most harrowing and unforgettable endings, it's Spike Lee's liveliest and most righteously angry film in ages.
