Ranking December 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

10. Ferdinand

Ferdinand 2017 Movie
20th Century Fox

RottenTomatoes Score: 72% (6.2/10)

Box Office: On a hefty $111 million budget, the John Cena-starring animation released to just $13.3 million in its opening weekend, well below expectations and making it by far the worst opening of any Blue Sky Animation film in their 15-year history. Ouch.

Verdict: Though it clings firmly to the generic talking animal animated movie formula, complete with the usual "be yourself!" truisms, it's hard to argue too much with Ferdinand's sweetness and an unexpectedly solid John Cena performance as the titular bull.

If you can deal with Kate McKinnon's fairly grating performance as crazed goat Lupe, it's well-animated and entertaining to a point, even if adults in the audience might wish it had a little more to offer them.
