Ranking December 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

6. Better Watch Out

Box Office: The festival favourite Christmas horror comedy has had only the most minuscule, limited release worldwide, opening on just 25 screens in the U.S., so it barely cracking $100,000 isn't terribly surprising (more than half that figure coming from U.K. grosses).

Still, with its single-location premise it was clearly made for virtually nothing, and has the potential to be a consistent seller on VOD every Christmas given its strong critical acclaim.

Verdict: A refreshing antidote to the glut of slushy, overly sentimental yuletide movies released this time of year, Better Watch Out is a terrifically low-fi Christmas-themed home invasion horror, starring three talented young leads and finding a perfect balance between its lighter and darker elements.

Unafraid to take risks while wasting not a moment of its snappy 89-minute runtime, this is a movie best watched while knowing as little as possible. You won't regret it.
