Ranking Every Chucky Movie From Worst To Best

5. Curse Of Chucky

child's play
Universal

After the abomination that was Seed of Chucky, it was feared that the Child's Play franchise was dead and buried. Luckily, a little break was just what the doctor ordered, with Curse of Chucky being the perfect soft reboot the killer doll needed. This film also showcased Don Mancini's creative mind, and love for his creation, as well as the interesting aspect that each of his instalments offers something new, feeling completely different in direction and tone.

Curse of Chucky felt very old school in its execution, having a small group of characters staying in a creepy old house, before being picked off one by one. It's also a lot slower than the last couple of films, with Chucky being pulled back from the limelight, returning him to the shadows to create some chilling sequences of suspense and dread.

What's more, the film neatly establishes further backstory for Chucky, connecting the dots with the current plotline to his past, incorporating a fascinating retroactive look on what led to Chucky being originally gunned down. That, and Curse of Chucky really goes that extra mile to make the killer doll sadistic again, whilst also being incredibly creepy in his stalker like behaviour, and the simple fact that he's enjoying tormenting his victims in a cruel game of cat and mouse.
