Ranking Every DC Comic Book Movie From Worst To Best

19. Suicide Squad

It might be controversial (or cliched, whatever), but Suicide Squad is not a good movie. It has grains of good ideas, flashes of good performances and a hint of future potential, but the execution is almost entirely wrong-headed. David Ayer might claim that this is his movie, but it smacks of studio interference and an edit suite experience that sucked out all the goodness and tried to force a different tone on the material that would never fit it.

Sure, The Joker is an interesting watch (he's the worst screen one, but there are fragments of excellence there that more disciplined direction would iron out); Harley Quinn is watchable (aside from the AWFUL accent); and Boomerang, Diablo and Deadshot have some good moments, but they're lost in a frame that is almost laughably flawed.

Never delivering on any of its pre-release promises (thanks to a huge gap in quality between the trailers and the film), Suicide Squad might now be a totem for fanboys in their war against critics, but the critics are entirely correct.
