Ranking Every DC Comic Book Movie From Worst To Best

16. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

DC Movies
Warner Bros. Pictures

Like most recent DC movies, Batman v Superman occasionally flirts with greatness but ends up going to the backseat of a car with garbageness instead.

Even with brilliant source material and a great new Batman in Ben Affleck, the film's problem is its director, who said while making Watchmen that he had no interest in making "conventional superhero movies" and who clearly isn't a fan of Superman. His commitment to making everything glum made Batman v Superman relentless to endure, and amplify the other problems that might not have been quite so fatal otherwise.

The story is emotionally manipulative without substance, escalates to an added threat without earning it at all and turns both Lex Luthor and Doomsday into the laughing stock of the entire DC movie villains' gallery.

There is something to be said for the Extended Cut, but even then Zack Snyder proves himself incapable of restraint or discipline, and it never once feels like he has anything but ironic appreication for his characters.
