Ranking Every DC Comic Book Movie From Worst To Best

6. Batman Begins

DC Movies
Warner Bros. Pictures

It's impossible to overstate just how much DC fans owe to Christopher Nolan and Batman Begins. After Joel Schumacher unwittingly killed off the neon, nippled Bat with Batman & Robin, the Dark Knight waded through years of interesting sounding projects that stayed in development hell before Nolan decided against a straight adaptation of Year One (the most popular idea at the time) and made his own movie.

The rest is history: Nolan ignored the pull of pulp and campiness (and rightly so, given what came before), cast the gravel-throated Christian Bale and reinvented Batman as a real world vigilante history without the comic book bells and whistles.

It might not be much of a comic book movie, but it IS a superhero movie, with excellent villain performances by Liam Neeson and Cillian Murphy, and it set the Batman world spinning on an entirely different axis.
