Ranking Every DC Comic Book Movie From Worst To Best

7. The Dark Knight Rises

DC Movies
Warner Bros.

There was a danger that The Dark Knight Rises would crumble under the weight of expectations it faced after The Dark Knight's stunning successes. That it managed to survive not only that but the removal of the franchise's single most compelling element in Heath Ledger is just incredible.

Sure, there are lots of problems - the editing is heavy-handed, there are gaping plot-holes and Bane deserved a hell of a lot better as a pay-off, but as a spectacle, it's a brilliant one. You just have to trade off some of the intelligence of The Dark Knight to enjoy those more disposable thrills.

Despite his voice, Tom Hardy is excellent as Bane, Anne Hathaway is great as Selina Kyle and Christian Bale plays an initially broken Bat very well. And it is a very good crowning point to Nolan's trilogy; it just feels like it needed a little more refinement. Deserved it, even.
