Ranking Every DC Movie Villain From Worst To Best

21. Evil Superman - Christopher Reeve (Superman III)

DC Villains Updated
Warner Bros.

Despite the fact that he's only on screen in Superman III for a comparatively short amount of time, Christopher Reeves' immoral, "evil" Superman identity who improbably splits from his "good" side for a confusingly physical battle is a great idea.

Not only did the material allow Reeves to show off a grittier, wholly welcome side, but it also introduced some fairly complex ideas in an otherwise comically bad film. Where else would you see Richard Pryor and loaded explorations of morality and the psyche on screen at the same time.

Importantly, "evil Superman" briefly hinted at the cult appeal of Bizarro and alternate timelines in the comic where Superman isn't the all-American boy. And even more pertinently, through a hokey narrative construct (the fake Kryptonite), we got to see Superman tackling the question of his morality and his self-worth, as he would later do to worse effect in Batman v Superman.
