18. Teen Titans: The Judas Contract (2017)
If tasked with creating a direct sequel to the lukewarm Justice League Vs. Teen Titans, adapting the classic Judas Contract - a storyline that was a definitive dark twist for the teen supergroup on the comic page - is not a bad way to go about it.
The main plot focuses on new Titan member Terra, and her initiation into the group, yet a sinister (and slightly creepy) alliance with Deathstroke and Brother Blood leads to some broken friendships.
The plot comes fast and loose, making light of the complex continuity from the source material, which is both a gift and curse. It's able to free up stale elements of the original plot, although it sadly loses most of Deathstroke's vital backstory and ties to the Titans, making his revenge slightly one-note. Also since Terra's character is given little build-up or history, her twisting arc has less of an impact.
Regardless, the voice acting from the pair - by late Miguel Ferrer, and Christina Ricci - is top-notch and the angst and conflict they create is interesting enough, regardless of its sparse development.
The action is fast and surprisingly brutal - especially consider the former entries more kid-friendly angle - resulting in a superior follow-up, if not one of the companies top-tier efforts.
