Ranking Every DC Original Animated Movie Worst To Best
12. Justice League Dark (2017)
Injecting some much needed new blood into the current DC animated rooster, 'Dark' focuses on the comic that rebooted several black magic characters (John Constantine, Zatanna, Swamp Thing) and threw them together into a mystical super-group.
Working as a quick origin tale within the studio's current New 52 continuity, it's a refreshing switch up to focus on a new rooster of colourful and off-beat characters whilst opening up an intriguing corner of the universe, featuring black magic and dark mysticism.
Fantastic also is the fact that Constantine is voiced by Matt Ryan - the same star of the character's defunct live-action show - who brings a gusto and authenticity to his part. It isn't just his movie though, with Zatanna providing a decent female counterpart, and Deadman's body-jumping talents being a stand-out in a handful of set-pieces.
The biggest flaw though is the shoehorning of the actual Justice League into this. Most are regulated to cameos asides from Batman who's unnecessarily front and centre, it sadly feels like a studio mandated set of training wheels, and while it certainly doesn't taint the movie past redemption, it certainly doesn't help either.
