10. Batman And Harley Quinn (2017)

Justice League Doom
Warner Bros.

Bruce Time returned to the iconic character of Harley Quinn that he created in this wacky and enjoyable love letter to Batman: The Animated Series.

Taking place in that specific show's continuity but many years later, Quinn has hung up her villain spurs and is busy busting tables as a reformed criminal. A nefarious plot from Poison Ivy has Batman and Nightwing with no other choice but to team up with their past antagonist, and get her done back in the clown suit.

With the art style directly aping All-New Batman and with Timm back behind script duties, this obviously was meant to take advantage of the nostalgia long-time fans had for the animated show. There’s even a bar scene filled with minor to massive easter eggs spanning all years of that classic series. But also in fun fashion Timm can acknowledge that young fans are now mature, and so is his content. Certainly it’s not R-rated, but there’s plenty of knowing and adult stuff that has the writer be able to play fast and loose with his material, and not be locked down to network code.

The entire enterprise is a madcap adventure with the banter between the trio of mismatched heroes being its enjoyable highlight. Certainly if there was one element that smarts slightly, it's iconic voice actress Arleen Sorkin having retired and been replaced with Melissa Rauch, although luckily she does a fine job of picking up the mantel.
