A lot of people think that Sleeping Beauty is just a bland, boring princess movie. And in some ways, it is (namely the main character; she's admittedly a bit vanilla). But no - this movie is actually rock-solid.

To start, the animation in this movie is spectacular. They utilized a brightly-colored and angular style that clearly drew from medieval art, and it makes everything feel lively. Next, it has a strong cast of characters. The three good fairies are tons of fun. Prince Philip is subversive in that he actually has to fight for the happy ending and be rescued from Maleficent.

And speaking of Maleficent, she deserves every accolade she gets and more. She is just such a sinister and well-designed villain.
