Ranking Every Disney Animated Movie From Worst To Best!
7. Moana (2016)
What can I saaaaaaaaaay except... Moana is splendid.
As a main character, Moana is so emotionally complex. In spite of her palpable self-doubt, she perseveres through her journey across the sea, inspiring the audience to never give up even when faced with overwhelming challenges. And her relationship is with Maui is so exceptionally well-developed in that it was entirely platonic, subverting the typical "female protagonist" archetype seen in so many Disney films.
What makes this movie particularly special, though, is its message and the method in which it was conveyed. The entire "Te Fiti" segment at the end teaches us that, though bad things may happen to you, they do not have to define you. Beautiful, invaluable, and just remarkably done.
