2. Mulan - Mulan
Mulan saved China.
That's really all that needs to be said. Next entry...
No, but seriously, Mulan is an exceptional role model. Instead of just falling into a generic "not like most girls" trope, Mulan takes it a million steps ahead. Rather than just rejecting societal expectations of women, she also seeks to prove that women can be just as powerful as men can, as she volunteers herself for the war to preserve her elderly and ailing father.
Not only is Mulan markedly courageous, but she's also perseverant.
Although she starts off as the laughing stock of her comrades in war, she never gives up on herself and eventually works hard enough to inspire much-needed confidence in everyone. Even when she's publicly chided and abandoned by the army after it's discovered that she's a woman, she soldiers on (no pun intended) to once again lead her troops to victory. Sure, they're technically not "her troops," but given how much more competent she is compared to her contemporaries, they may as well be.
Overall, Mulan is a "first of her kind" princess who deserves far more respect than she is afforded.
