Ranking Every Disney Princess From Worst To Best
9. Pocahontas - Pocahontas
As much as your writer can't stand Pocahontas as a film, the titular character does show a slight bit of promise: she's a free spirit who defies the expectations of her tribe and the entitlement of the colonists who attempt to usurp her land.
But the thing is, all of this potential falls flat on its face when you realize that Pocahontas is literally just Juliet.
Think about it: she has a marriage arranged for her that she's not into, she falls in love with a man from an opposing group of people, and she becomes so twitterpated with him so quickly that she's willing to die for it. To be fair to her, it is admirable that she throws herself over John Smith to prevent further bloodshed between the colonists and the Powhatan warriors, but their love story is so banal and boring that it's hard to truly care about it all.
Perhaps she could've ranked higher if her character arc was more inspired... and if her movie was less terrible.
