Ranking Every James Bond Film - From Worst To Best
16. Quantum Of Solace
Following in Casino Royale's footsteps was never going to be an easy task, and with a director primarily know for his indie features (Marc Forster of The Kite Runner and Monster's Ball) at the helm, Quantum Of Solace ultimately palls in comparison to its predecessor. Never as powerful, fun, reinvigorating, or tender as Royale, QoS is instead a mid-rank Bond, blessed with some nice moments but eventually ending up as the worst of the Daniel Craig instalments. The great Mathieu Almaric is underused as head villain Dominic Greene, as is main Bond girl Olga Kurylenko, who doesn't really get much to do other than look sad and sultry. There are two notable moments, one great, the other overwrought and far fetched. The former involves Bond capturing his enemies on camera at the opera, which is far better than it sounds, the latter involves a plane crash which Bond somehow survives by using some kind of smoke...tactic (?) to basically act as a parachute, which is as it stupid as it sounds.
