Ranking Every Live-Action Catwoman From Worst To Best
5. Lee Meriwether - Batman: The Movie
Julie Newmar portrayed Catwoman throughout the first two seasons of the Adam West Batman television series, which began in January of 1966. However, as a result of other obligations she had at the time, Newmar was unable to play the character in the feature film based on the show that came out later that year. Therefore, it was fellow '60s acting icon, Lee Meriwether, who would step up to fill her shoes.
And did she ever.
Meriwether was able to capture Newmar's interpretation of Catwoman to a T. Even if she didn't really bring anything new to the table, she did exactly what was needed. Her habits and mannerisms were all on-point and she moved with the smooth demeanor Catwoman is known for. Plus, not only was Meriwether very good in the role, but she also gets bonus points for being the first to portray the character of Catwoman in a theatrical film.
The only other real downside to Meriwether's Catwoman was that, save for one or two scenes where she gets the undivided spotlight, she mostly gets lost in the shuffle among the rest of the ensemble villain cast.
