Ranking Every Magnificent Seven Character From Worst To Best
3. Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke)
Ethan Hawke should do more westerns: the guy looks totally the part as legendary sharpshooter Robicheaux, and has probably the most interesting arc of any character, clearly shaken by the lives he's taken over the years and having little desire to do anymore killing.
Of course, after he puts down arms and leaves Rose Creek before the final showdown, he ends up returning to help save the day, and gets one of the best deaths in the entire movie, blasted off the steeple with Bogue's Gatling Gun and falling to the floor in one brutal, seamless shot that doesn't appear to be CGI-assisted.
Hawke is characteristically great here, meting out vengeance in the finale but also getting some calmer, more thoughtful moments opposite his Training Day co-star Denzel Washington.
