Ranking Every Nicolas Cage Movie Worst To Best
47. Time To Kill (1989)
The deepest of deep cuts now, with this 1989 Italian drama starring Cage as an Italian Lieutenant taking part in Italy's invasion of Ethiopia in the 1930s.
Unlike most of Cage's protagonists, there isn't a shred to like about Lt. Enrico Silvestri, a rapist, killer, and all-around reprobate who mentally and physically declines over the course of 110 excruciating minutes.
It's not pleasant escapist viewing, but it is shot through with a clear vision, and if nothing confronts the abject, ugly realities of war.
46. The Boy In Blue (1986)
Another early Cage joint now with this 1986 biopic of legendary Canadian rowing champion Ned Hanlan, and though Cage certainly got into impressively bulky shape for the part, it never really graduates beyond being a generic sports biopic.
There are many reasons why films starring major actors are often tricky to track down, but in the case of The Boy in Blue, it's simply that it's so inoffensive as to be basically invisible.
