Ranking Every Nicolas Cage Movie Worst To Best
35. Guarding Tess (1994)
Guarding Tess casts Cage as a Secret Service agent who has spent the last few years tirelessly protecting the widow of a former U.S. President (Shirley MacLaine).
The film lives and dies on the strength of Cage and MacLaine's unexpected chemistry, and every second they're together is a sure hoot. There are some solid laughs to be had throughout, even if it goes off the tonal deep end in the wonkier third reel.
34. The Trust (2016)
A deliciously dark blend of buddy cop and heist movie, The Trust pairs a well-matched Cage and Elijah Wood together as two disillusioned, hard-up cops who plot to pull off a robbery.
Cage is terrific here though a little more plausibly reined-in than in some of his more madcap roles, but thanks to sharp writing and some appealingly gritty visuals, this has far more to offer than a mere showcase for Cage's talents.
It just might emerge as a cult fave of Cage's filmography in the years to come.
