Ranking Every Nicolas Cage Movie Worst To Best
19. Con Air (1997)
Perhaps no other movie in Cage's filmography quite distills the idea of "Nicolas Cage, Movie Star" as succinctly as Con Air, which remains one of Hollywood's finest arguments for the blockbuster as pure, unfettered escapism.
A gorgeously long-haired Cage is thoroughly entertaining, dodgy southern accent and all, as wrongly imprisoned man Cameron Poe, who must endure the plane ride from hell before his prison term is up.
Beyond the ludicrously entertaining action, Con Air benefits enormously from a cracking ensemble cast, led by an arguably never-better John Malkovich as the serpentine Cyrus "The Virus."
18. Vampire's Kiss (1989)
This proto-American Psycho stars Cage as a literary agent who comes to believe he's turning into a vampire after an encounter with a beautiful woman.
Though indifferently received upon release, Vampire's Kiss' esteem has grown in recent years to the extent that it's now often accepted to be the definitive Crazy Nicolas Cage performance.
Cage leaves nothing on the table here, swinging wildly for the fences in a disturbing urban nightmare which relishes in its own campy cartoonishness.
