Ranking Every Nicolas Cage Movie Worst To Best
17. The Rock (1996)
The Rock is Michael Bay at his most entertainingly bombastic, a gorgeous, well-oiled blockbuster, with Cage portraying the absurdly-named FBI Special Agent Dr. Stanley Goodspeed, who teams up with former British spy John Patrick Mason (Sean Connery) to stop a crazed General (Ed Harris) from launching chemical weapons from Alcatraz Island into San Francisco.
This might well be Bay at his most giddily self-aware, aided of course by a fantastic ensemble cast who keep the testosterone well above the recommended daily allowance.
You know what you're getting here, and it's the best kind of high-calorie, low-demand action flick imaginable.
16. Color Out Of Space (2019)
It sure was a delight to see doomed filmmaker Richard Stanley make his return to Hollywood with such a smoothly controlled, tonally fascinating stab at H. P. Lovecraft.
Unexpectedly hilarious and gorgeously conceived under minimal resources, Color Out of Space is at once a riveting sci-fi horror and a terrific showcase for a one-of-a-kind Cage performance.
If you can't get onboard with Cage talking way too much about llamas than could ever be healthy, are you even a fan?
