Ranking Every Nicolas Cage Movie Worst To Best
3. Face/Off (1997)
By far John Woo's best Hollywood action film is a landmark for the genre, and proof that in the right hands it's possible to take an insanely dumb concept and turn it smart.
Face/Off is not a premise that should fundamentally work, and yet, thanks to Cage and John Travolta's sublime as-each-other performances, it's effortlessly easy to believe its low-fi sleight of hand.
Cage is brilliantly unhinged as the psychotic criminal Castor Troy, and also as Travolta's Sean Archer forced to wear Troy's face.
Woo's action chops are nothing short of sublime, the script is just the right level of wink-wink absurd. As such, it remains one of the greatest action films that Hollywood has as-yet produced.
2. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse (2018)
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse just might be one of the greatest animated films of all time, because it's certainly one of the best superhero movies ever made.
Introducing mainstream audiences to Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), Into the Spider-Verse tells a daringly subversive Spider-Man origin story, brought to vibrant life by its eye-wateringly beautiful animation and an outstanding voice cast.
Among the supporting players is, of course, Nicolas Cage as the hilariously Bogart-esque Spider-Man Noir, and while hardly a focal figure, Cage certainly leaves quite the impression with his limited screen time.
And now, it's time for our #1 pick...
