Ranking EVERY Resident Evil Movie From Worst To Best
9. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter
The last in series that has certainly had its ups and downs, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter might be the biggest letdown by a long shot. After Retribution, the franchise almost had a new life and cemented itself within the realms of B movie shlock - with over the top slow motion actions scenes and a plot that would seem laughable to those who weren't die-hard fans.
The Final Chapter fell flat in every conceivable way and committed one of the most egregious sins by explaining away events between movies in the series now traditional Alice monologue openings. A climactic final battle against Umbrella was teased at the end in a massive way, as the last survivor's friend and foes had to pull together, but this was explained away in minutes.
From there it doesn't get much better, as what cast do return have their characters crowbarred into peculiar roles, and for the new ones jumping on board, they don't have to time to seem important to the plot at all. For example, if you were to cut out Ruby Rose's character entirely, this film wouldn't be any better or worse off.
The end of Alice's story couldn't be more disappointing. Nothing mattered here, and for most, it is best to simply avoid this one.
