Ranking: Every Tim Burton Movie From Worst To Best
6. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street (2007)
Trust Burton to make a musical that's perfectly pitched at people who typically don't like musicals. With a dementedly dark sense of humour, lashings of gore and excellent performances from Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter (not to mention a stellar supporting cast including Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall and Sacha Baron Cohen), Sweeney Todd is proof that Burton needs to venture into the R-rated arena more often.
Burton proves to be a fantastic match for Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Tony Award-winning musical, making the most of both the story's inherent gallows hilarity as well as its straight-up grimness. Depp and Carter may not be the most natural of singers, but Depp's Best Actor Oscar nomination was well-earned all the same.
Best Moment: At the movie's climax, Depp's title character has his throat slit by young lad Toby, bleeding out as the film ends.
