Ranking: Every Tim Burton Movie From Worst To Best

12. Charlie & The Chocolate Factory (2005)

Alice In Wonderland Johnny Depp Frankenweenie
Warner Bros.

While it can't begin to live up to the Gene Wilder original (and comparing them is basically a fool's errand), Burton's ambitious remake at least has the bravery to venture far away from the Wilder version and fashion something distinctly its own.

Sure, the colours are at times garish (like chugging down a pack full of Skittles in one gulp) and Johnny Depp's Michael Jackson impersonation tip-toes on a razor's edge of creepiness, but it's largely a stylistic feast and Danny Elfman's songs are delightful. Plus, Oompa Loompas!

Best Moment: The visually splendid introduction to the Land of Candy.
