Ranking Every Tobe Hooper Film From Worst To Best

12. Night Terrors

Tobe Hooper
Cannon Films

Tobe Hooper's 1993 effort Night Terrors is about a bizarre sadomasochistic cult in Egypt, and it's almost as painful as its subject matter.

Sexual thrillers were in their prime in the early '90s, and here we have an exploitation movie masking as softcore erotica and a blatant attempt to capitalise on the trend.

It was a limp offering that might have worked in the hands of Dario Argento, but Hooper lacked the art, smarts and acting talent to pull off the concept on this occasion.

Casting Freddy Krueger actor Robert Englund as the Marquis de Sade is an inspired bit of recruitment, but that's as far as the innovation goes.
