Ranking: Every Tom Cruise Action Movie From Worst To Best

4. Edge Of Tomorrow

Tom Cruise Mission Impossible 2 Edge Of Tomorrow
Warner Bros. Pictures

Doug Liman's ferociously entertaining sci-fi actioner may have done underwhelming business at the box office, but it quickly amassed a sizeable cult following not to mention strong critical acclaim for its outstanding direction, intelligent approach to the genre, pin-sharp editing and stellar performances (from Cruise, Emily Blunt and Bill Paxton in particular).

A beguiling mix of Starship Troopers and Groundhog Day, Edge of Tomorrow is pretty much the best video game movie ever made...despite not actually being based on a video game.

A clever riff on time travel tropes with scintillating action and a fantastic dynamic between Cruise and Blunt, Edge delivers pretty much everything a smart, switched-on fan could want out of the genre.

Best Moment: There are so many to choose from, but Cruise mistiming his roll in front of a truck and getting run over (to Paxton's immense confusion) is just priceless.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
