Ranking: Every Tom Cruise Action Movie From Worst To Best

13. Oblivion

Tom Cruise Mission Impossible 2 Edge Of Tomorrow
Universal

Make no mistake, Oblivion is an absolutely beautiful-looking movie. The visual effects, cinematography and direction are all first-rate here, so it's a shame the almost comically derivative script doesn't do justice to the immense production, not to mention Cruise's solid performance front-and-center.

The few action sequences are much more memorable than the film as a whole, largely because the script doesn't really invest the audience in the characters, there's no subtlety to it at all, and it just feels like a hollow retread of so many better movies.

The M83 score is absolutely incredible, though.

Best Moment: Cruise's Jack Harper, his wife Julia (Olga Kurylenko) and resistance leader Malcolm Beech (Morgan Freeman) have their hideout attacked by a fleet of drones, so fend them off with their sizeable arsenal of weaponry in totally bada** fashion.
