Ranking Every Upcoming DCEU Movie By Anticipation
1. The Batman
Release Date: 2018 (supposedly)
Billed As:
Matt Reeves stand-alone Batman movie, apparently still starring Ben Affleck (for now) but completely rewritten from his and Geoff Johns' original vision, and definitely still in the DCEU (just not likely to star any of the other Justice League members).
Positives?
Reeves is a huge get for Warner Bros in the wake of Ben Affleck leaving the role, and what he could do for this film could rival what he did for the Apes trilogy, which must have appealed to the studio when they hired him.
And while Affleck wasn't the most convincing Bruce Wayne (on account of him being an actual hulk in a business suit), he was a good Batman, and the promise of seeing more of a traditional detective movie should give us more of a chance to see a subtle performance from him under the cowl.
Also, it's a f*cking Batman film.
Concerns?
That the well-publicised issues behind the scene will lead to a too-many cooks sort of situation, or that launching a Batman trilogy with an older actor at the point in his arc when he's already beaten most of his villains isn't the best way to tackle a new stand-alone Batman.
Also, please do anything other than reintroduce Jared Leto's Joker as the villain.
