RottenTomatoes Score: 10% (3.8/10 average) Box Office: Despite being released in a good deal of the world before landing in the US this past month, Seventh Son has only barely scraped back its overblown $95 million budget, making it one of the year's first big box office bombs. It's with good reason that audiences turned their backs on this adaptation of Joseph Dalney's novel, though, because it's about as snooze-inducingly generic as fantasy movies come. Though Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges do provide some (possibly unintentional) camp value, even they can't do much against the aggressive blandness of the screenplay, the direction, the cinematography...everything. Filming began back in March 2012, so it's not too surprising the final product blew, but how the hell did it cost almost $100 million? This looks like a $40 million movie tops, and that's if Universal were being especially generous to Moore and Bridges.
