16. The Space Between Us

Box Office: On a modest $30 million, the epic sci-fi romance has barely cracked $10 million to date, with an opening weekend well below expectations that ensures it's a certifiable bomb.

Verdict: Sure to be one of the strangest studio releases of the year, this creation from the mind of Collateral Beauty writer Allan Loeb reeks of YA nonsense but is, strangely enough, an original script penned strictly for the screen.

With a wavering tone, treacly sentiment and the obligatory ridiculous third-act plot twist, The Space Between Us may look nice enough, and Gary Oldman's welcome in just about everything, but Britt Robertson and Asa Butterfield have zero chemistry and neither does particularly remarkable work here either.
