Ranking February 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

12. Gold

Matthew McConaughey Gold
TWC-Dimension

RottenTomatoes Score: 41% (5.2/10)

Box Office: Though it grossed slightly above expectations, the Matthew McConaughey-starring drama has only barely pulled in 25% of its $30 million budget. A bust.

Verdict: McConaughey does fine work as a gold prospector in a film that doesn't really deserve him. Best described as workmanlike, Gold was widely expected to be a big-time Oscar player, but it's really just a mediocre biopic that doesn't even begin to touch the sides.

Bryce Dallas Howard is fun and cute in a supporting role, but much more could've been done with Edgar Ramirez, and basically there's very little here you'll remember a week after viewing.
