Ranking February 2017's Movies From Worst To Best
11. Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk
RottenTomatoes Score: 45% (5.4/10)
Box Office: Ang Lee's much-hyped war drama was a major box office failure, scoring the 25th worst-ever debut for a film opening on more than 1,000 screens, and to date is still falling about $10 million short of its $40 million budget. Yikes.
Verdict: In retrospect, it's difficult to see why this film had awards buzz at all, beyond its 120FPS gimmick that 99.9% of people watching the film never had access to anyway.
Newcomer Joe Alwyn does fine in the titular role, but this middling effort offers up little new about the Iraq war or the plight of soldiers stationed out there.
The Super Bowl sequence is the easy stand-out, but Kristen Stewart is fatally under-used and it just feels like a minor, totally forgettable attempt from the legendary director.
