Ranking February 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

16. Mute

Mute Alexander Skarsgard
Netflix

RottenTomatoes Score: 11% (3.9/10)

Box Office: Mute went straight to Netflix, so nothing to see here.

Verdict: Duncan Jones' fourth feature is an undeniable disappointment, a stylistically appealing yet narratively muddled, bloated affair that fails to make good on its Blade Runner-inspired premise.

The cast are uniformly good and there's some impressive world-building on display, but it goes nowhere fast, outstays its welcome by a good 15-20 minutes, and features one especially icky subplot that ultimately doesn't feel narratively justified.

Considering Jones spent around a decade cooking this one up, you'd be right to expect a hell of a lot more from it.
