Ranking Freddy Krueger's Deaths Worst To Best

3. I've Got The Body... - A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge (1985)

Freddy Krueger On Fire
New Line Cinema

By the time the original Nightmare on Elm Street hit cinemas up and down the land, New Line Cinema knew they were onto a winning formula and quickly set to work on organising a sequel. Set five years after the events of the first film, the story rolls around Jesse Walsh and his family moving into the old Thompson house, and Krueger's attempts to possess and re-enter our world via Jesse.

As well as being one of the horror world's most homoerotic inclusions, Freddy's Revenge also features arguably the darkest version of Krueger we've seen, up until the remake at least. The quips and jokes that we associate with Freddy are largely missing and he spends most of the film shrouded in darkness or hidden beneath his fedora.

Freddy's demise in Freddy's Revenge takes place at an old factory where Krueger supposedly worked during his life, teased to us earlier in the film. By the time the finale rolls around, our hero Jesse has been taken over by Freddy and it is only via his love interest Lisa's pleas that we begin to see the tide turning. One mega-sick kiss on the lips later and Jesse is recreating the most famous scene from Alien, climbing out of Krueger's body and proclaiming his love for Lisa.

Freddy's death in the franchise's second instalment is as gross as it is touching to see; it perfectly encapsulates the message and undertones present in the film and is sure to stick with you for a long time after the end credits roll past.
