Ranking January 2015's Movies From Worst To Best

8. American Sniper

RottenTomatoes Score: 72% (6.8 out of 10) Box Office: Here's a movie that just keeps going and going. On a $58.8 million budget, American Sniper currently sits at a huge $260.9 million, and is sure to edge much closer to (if not exceed) the $300 million worldwide mark this weekend. Never underestimate the power of "America, f*** yeah!". Clint Eastwood delivers his best movie in quite a few years here, and though the pic's political alignment will undeniably rub some the wrong way, it's pretty far from a simplistic propaganda piece. Though the scenarios are all pretty familiar for the most part, Bradley Cooper is stellar in the lead role (if certainly not Oscar worthy), and Eastwood's direction hasn't been this muscular in quite some time. It lacks the grit and moral component of something like The Hurt Locker, and the fake baby is distractingly awful for a Best Picture-nominated movie, but it's a step back in the right direction for the legendary filmmaker.
