Ranking January 2016's Movies From Worst To Best

18. The Forest

RottenTomatoes Score: 12% (4.1/10) Box Office: Made for a mere $10 million, The Forest had no problem pulling in the box office bucks, having generated roughly $30 million to date. No matter how terrible, low-budget, theatrically-released horror movies are a sure thing. Verdict: Japan's infamous Aokigahara Forest (aka the "Suicide Forest") is an unquestionably terrific setting for a horror film, but it gets a depressingly generic treatment here and as such Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer is left helpless to do much of anything. Despite some decent visuals, the plot is pure generic supernatural hokum, there's a good chance you'll see at least a few of the twists and turns coming, and any potential for emotional impact is ruined by formulaic "scares" throughout. It's a horror film released in January: was it ever going to be any good?
