Ranking January 2017's Movies From Worst To Best
15. Assassin's Creed
RottenTomatoes Score: 18% (3.9/10)
Box Office: On an immense $125 million budget, the long-awaited video game adaptation made just $210 million, performing below expectations.
You can blame its financial failure on a number of reasons: bad reviews, a poor marketing campaign, and releasing in the US a week after Rogue One came out. Never bet against Star Wars.
Verdict: A crushing disappointment given the immense potential, Assassin's Creed is the latest failed attempt at a video game movie franchise, thanks to an overly self-serious script, too much time being spent in the present day rather than the Animus, a depressingly wasted cast and spasmodically-mounted action sequences.
After Warcraft and Ratchet and Clank failed to make a splash on the big screen, fans really needed this, but even the dream team of Michael Fassbender and director Justin Kurzel couldn't make it happen.
