Ranking January 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

11. Sing

Split XXx 3 La La Land
Universal Pictures

RottenTomatoes Score: 72% (6.5/10)

Box Office: The $75 million animation has been nothing short of a smash hit, pulling in a superb $450+ million to date, exceeding expectations and resulting in the confirmation of a sequel due for release in 2020.

Verdict: Though the "animals sing pop songs" conceit may seem pretty cynical and low-effort, Sing is actually a better-than-expected family entertainment thanks to a splendid voice cast who are clearly not just phoning it in for an easy payday.

It's definitely too long and a more subversive spin on this type of concept was definitely possible, but it's absolutely not the lazy dud the marketing suggested.
