Ranking January 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

12. Split

Split XXx 3 La La Land
Universal Pictures

RottenTomatoes Score: 73% (6.4/10)

Box Office: Driven by strong reviews, M. Night Shyamalan's new thriller has grossed just over $100 million against a $9 million budget.

It practically doubled initial opening weekend projections, beating xXx 3 to first place and scoring a repeat first place win in its second weekend also. A major success, then.

Verdict: Shyamalan just might be back for good with arguably one of his best-ever efforts, a visceral, intense thriller driven forward by an incredible, commanding performance from James McAvoy.

It's a movie that keeps the viewer guessing, and as Shyamalan clearly learned with The Visit, it doesn't overdo it when it comes to the inevitable plot twist. That final scene though...
